Beach Replenishment is coming to LBI towns this summer

The army corps of engineers will be pumping sand onto LBI's beaches this summer. Jon Coen, who has a weekly column in The Sandpaper, takes a look at the impact the project will have on beachgoers this summer.

Says Coen:

This is where we’re going to have some problems this summer. Certain beaches will be closed and there will be work and noise 24 hours a day. However, the state Department of Environmental Protection has put tight constraints on Great Lakes to only close off 1,000-foot sections of beach at a time during the summer months. Hence, if the pipe is in front of your home or rental, you should still be able to walk to an open beach. And the work is scheduled to be completed in Ship Bottom by July 4.
